Holy Trinity School Used For Dancing Classes - 1944

We are trying to identify the children on this photograph. If you spot someone you know, please let us know. You can see a larger version of the photograph by clicking on it.

During the Second World War and into the late 1940’s - Holy Trinity School was used for dancing classes, run by Mrs Joyce Pindar and her husband. I remember more about getting there (down a dark and deserted Bridge Street, Hickman Street onto Southolme, past the King’s Theatre, and down dark ten foots to the school) more than the dance classes themselves. This was after the War.

I do remember one concert during the war, when they handed out food parcels to each child. Mine was from Canada, and it contained, amongst other things, an apple which was red on the outside and pink right through to the core. To me, at four years old, this was amazing and I never forgot about that apple. As told to us by Diana Rose.
