The Gainsborough Motor Cycle and Light Car Club
Taken from the local paper dated 13th October 1922.
“The Gainsborough Motor Cycle and Light Car Club has now obtained a membership of fifty and is making very successful progress in every way.
At the General Meeting held at the Tudor Cafe on Tuesday evening, about forty members were present and the rules of the club and other important matters were attended to.
A Committee of Management has been appointed and is composed of Messrs R Mason, A Rose, J Marshall, C H Moore, N G Colver, H L Wilding, J Stothard and N L Roberts, with Mr W R Adair (Redbourne) as Secretary.
It was decided to have a plated enamel badge, surmounted with the Gainsborough Coat of Arms, and the letters ‘G.M.C.’ in gold letters inscribed on it; to be affixed to the motorcycle.
A Club-room for Tuesdays and Fridays has been obtained from Messrs Stokes and Harrison for the use of the Club members.
It was decided to have a Club run to Ollerton where Mansfield an Worksop Clubs meet, on Saturday afternoon, starting from the Market Place at 2 p.m. and it is hoped that all members will participate.
It was unanimously passed that the club be affiliated to the Auto Cycle Union”.
