St. John’s Ambulance

The Brigade was actually formed in 1898 when at a meeting held at the Britannia Works - proposed by Mr Spencer, seconded by J W Baines, that the Brigade be formed.

Inspector of Stores - J W Baines

Supt. Surgeon - Dr Cassan

Hon. Surgeon - Drs Slader and Nicholson.

21 rules were drawn up. The Division was formed in February 1908 with:

Supernumerary Officer - F F Linley

On September 12th 1908 the Division did its first Football Duty at the Northolme.
